Voter turnout rises past 14 percent

According to the election website, 643,603 ballots had been cast in geographical seats by 1.30pm in Sunday’s Legislative Council elections.

That’s a turnout rate of 14.39 percent.

At the same time on polling day in 2016, turnout was at 18.88 percent, although polling stations opened an hour earlier that year.

Voting is scheduled to continue until 10.30pm.
