Two arrested by national security officers

National security officers on Wednesday afternoon arrested two women on suspicious of acting or attempting to act with seditious intent.

The two, aged 21 and 24, were arrested under Section 9 and 10 of the Crimes Ordinance, not the national security law.

Police said officers also searched their flats and a shop they ran in Mongkok, and seized some publications and electronic communication devices.

The force said the two are suspected to have used the shop’s social media platform since October 2020 to publish allegedly seditious messages and call on others to breach anti-epidemic regulations.

Police said the pair are being detained.
