Tsuen Wan building under lockdown for testing

Officials have locked down a building in Tsuen Wan for coronavirus testing on Sunday evening after a resident tested positive for the L452R mutant strain of Covid-19 following a visit to Dubai.

The 56-year-old man is being treated as an imported case, but had been staying at Block 1 of Bo Shek Mansion during the twenty-one day incubation period.

The man flew to Dubai last Sunday and tested positive in a quarantine hotel on his return on Friday. He had received both doses of the Sinovac vaccine and was asymptomatic.

Residents of the building on Sha Tsui Road have been ordered to get tested tonight and four times in the coming weeks.

The operation is expected to end on Monday at 7am.

The Centre for Health Protection also announced compulsory testing notices for 11 places the man visited during the infectious period.

They include several restaurants in Tsuen Wan, Yau Ma Tei, Jordan, Lai Chi Kok, Kwun Tong and Sheung Wan, as well as passengers on the E31 bus from Tsuen Wan to Tung Chung between 6pm and 9pm on August 15.
