Top developers endorse John Lee’s bid for CE

Top developers have voiced support for John Lee’s bid to become Hong Kong’s next leader.

CK Asset chairman Victor Li said in a statement that he will nominate Lee to run in the upcoming chief executive election, saying he’s the right candidate to help ensure Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability.

Sun Hung Kai Properties chairman Raymond Kwok said Lee helped restore the city’s order and will benefit Hong Kong in the long run.

New World Development CEO Adrian Cheng said he believes Lee is capable of resolving Hong Kong’s deep-rooted conflicts, while Henderson Land chairman Lee Ka-shing said he’s experienced and patriotic.

Meanwhile, Allen Shi, president of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association, said he believes John Lee will act to ensure national security and social stability, thus boosting the confidence of those investing in Hong Kong.

And it’s understood that National People’s Congress Standing Committee member Tam Yiu-chung will head John Lee’s campaign office, with local NPC delegate and former constitutional and mainland affairs minister Raymond Tam serving as a deputy.
