Temperature drops as low as 0.8 degrees Celsius

Hong Kong saw near-freezing temperatures early on Sunday as Guangdong was hit by an intense winter monsoon, the Hong Kong Observatory said.

The minimum temperature of 0.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at the SAR’s highest peak, Tai Mo Shan, at around 4.40am, according to the Observatory, which said a band of clouds was bringing rainy weather to southern China.

The Observatory said temperatures in the urban areas today will range between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius, and that it will be a bit colder in the New Territories.

It will remain cold on Monday and Tuesday, which will be windy and see more rain.

The weather is expected to improve on Wednesday and Thursday.
