Tai Wai building locked down over preliminary case

Authorities locked down a residential building in Tai Wai on Monday, after a woman who lives there tested preliminary positive for the coronavirus.

The 66-year-old dined with her eight relatives at the Moon Palace restaurant in Kowloon Tong on December 27, and would be the sixth Covid patient linked to the cluster there if her infection is confirmed.

Officials moved in to the site at at 7pm.

Residents in tower two of Granville Garden will need to get tested and stay in their homes until all results are out.

The government said it aimed to complete the operation by 7.30am on Tuesday.
