Student pleads guilty over attack on policeman

A student on Monday pleaded guilty to rioting in connection with an attack on a police officer in Mong Kok last year.

The District Court heard that Jeffrey Nou, 20, was among a group of protesters who blockaded a road near Prince Edward MTR Station on February 29, 2020.

One of the officers who chased the protesters was surrounded and beaten up.

The court heard that the demonstrators threw objects at the policeman who drew his gun.

He was only rescued when colleagues arrived at the scene.

The case was adjourned to May 24 pending a background report on the defendant.
