Six types of Godiva ice cream recalled

Food safety officials on Thursday called on the public not to eat six kinds of Godiva ice cream imported from France, because they contain the pesticide ethylene oxide.

They said European authorities alerted Hong Kong about the unauthorised use of the chemical found in the products’ stabiliser.

The ice cream concerned are 100 millilitre packs in the following flavours: chocolate cheese, milk chocolate frozen confection with dark chocolate, Belgian dark chocolate, vanilla flavoured cocoa infused ice cream, caramel coffee frozen confection with dark chocolate chips and strawberry with dark chocolate chips.

The batches have best before dates ranging from October 2022 to April 2023.

The Centre for Food Safety said Godiva Chocolatier (Asia), the firm which imported the ice cream, has started recalling the products.

It said people can call the importer on 3765 5818 during office hours if they have questions about the recall.
