Silka Seaview Hotel to quarantine close contacts

Silka Seaview Hotel will from next week be used to quarantine close contacts of Covid patients, rather than foreign domestic helpers arriving in Hong Kong.

The government announced the move on Wednesday, saying it’s part of efforts to boost facilities for the quarantine of close contacts because of a recent surge in infections.

The hotel will be used as a quarantine hotel for close contacts from January 17.

Authorities said they will arrange helpers currently staying there to be transferred to other designated locations to continue their quarantine.

They added that they were preparing the Junior Police Call Permanent Activity Centre in Pat Heung and Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre to be used to isolate close contacts.

Along with the Lei Yue Mun Park and Holiday Village, three quarantine hotels and the Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre, the city has about 5,000 units in total for close contacts to be quarantined.
