Religious groups mourn deaths of Covid patients

Six religious groups on Tuesday marked Ching Ming Festival by releasing videos to mourn those who died with Covid-19.

The videos – which included speeches from representatives of Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, Confucian, Christian and Taoist groups – were published on the social media page of the Hong Kong Social Welfare Sector Joint Action against Covid-19.

The head of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, Stephen Chow, said it was extremely painful and heartbreaking to see a large number of elderly people as well as children pass away in the current outbreak.

Chow reminded people to cherish their family and friends, and ride out the pandemic with love and compassion.

Meanwhile, the vice-chairperson of the Chinese Muslim Cultural and Fraternal Association, Ha Kay-wai, thanked the central government for supporting Hong Kong’s Covid fight.

He said the city has been given a strong boost with all the resources and manpower coming from across the border.
