Quarantine exemption ends for Zhuhai Port arrivals

The government on Monday announced that anyone travelling to Hong Kong from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge’s Zhuhai Port will not be exempted from compulsory quarantine under its Return2hk or Come2hk schemes starting from Tuesday.

The authorities made the announcement in light of the latest pandemic situation in the city of Zhuhai’s Xiangzhou District, which is now temporarily designated as one of the “at-risk places that are temporarily inapplicable under the Return2hk and Come2hk schemes”.

It added that the Zhuhai Port is located in that district.

The government said people who have applied for quotas to enter Hong Kong from the port under the schemes will not be exempted from quarantine, and that it will send SMS notifications to those who have done so.

On Monday, the National Health Commission reported 223 new confirmed Covid-19 cases for January 16, up from 119 a day earlier.

Zhuhai reported two more locally transmitted coronavirus cases on Sunday.
