Poll queue check system back in action

A system allowing voters to check online how long they need to wait at polling stations was back in action shortly after 4pm on Sunday, after it was taken offline in the morning.

The Registration and Electoral Office (REO) said in a statement shortly after polls for the Legislative Council vote opened at 8.30am that the system was “out of service” due to “excessive usage.”

Voters can check the expected queuing time of each ordinary polling station on the election website, www.elections.gov.hk.

They’ll be able to find out whether the likely queue time is less than 30 minutes, 30 to 60 minutes or 60 to 90 minutes. Signs will continue to be placed outside polling stations for electors to refer to.

Voting closes at 10.30pm on Sunday.
