Penny’s Bay option to end for helpers’ quarantine

The Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre will stop taking bookings for foreign domestic helpers from next Monday, with the government saying it needs to reserve all the rooms there for its response to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant of Covid.

The administration also said that the Regala Skycity Hotel on Lantau will be added to the list of quarantine facilities for helpers from next month.

Helpers scheduled to remain in quarantine at Penny’s Bay from January 5 will be transferred to the Regala in phases, a statement said.

Employers and agents can start making reservations for rooms at the Regala for their arriving helpers from Friday.

Officials added that they were in discussions with a fourth hotel for it to become a designated quarantine site for helpers.
