Paul Chan works from home after helper tests positive

The government said Financial Secretary Paul Chan will work from home until Sunday after a domestic helper at his official residence tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.

A spokesperson for his office said on Friday that the test results of Chan, his family members as well as helpers on duty have all come back negative.

“Although Chan and his family are not close contacts of the domestic helper, after consulting the Department of Health, and for the sake of prudence, Chan will work from home for five days until February 27, counting from the last day he had contact with the positive case,” the spokesman added.

Other helpers at the minister’s residence will also undergo further tests.

Separately, the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services Eric Pang is undergoing home quarantine after his son tested preliminary positive for Covid.

Pang’s rapid and deep throat saliva tests have so far come back negative.

He will work from home during the quarantine period, a spokesman for his department said.
