Pair wanted by ICAC over alleged vote boycott

Former Democratic Party legislator Ted Hui and former district councillor Yau Man-chun are now wanted by the ICAC for allegedly calling on people to boycott and cast blank votes in the upcoming Legco elections.

According to a statement by the anti-graft body on Monday, the Department of Justice said there was sufficient evidence to prosecute the pair after an investigation into their posts on social media.

“As the duo had already left Hong Kong, warrants for the arrest of them were issued by a magistrates’ court [Monday] morning upon the applications made by the ICAC,” the statement says.

The ICAC added that Hui faces four charges and Yau faces eight charges.

Both Hui and Yau have declared they’re no longer in Hong Kong, in self-imposed exile.
