Over 540,000 vote by 12.30

Just over 12 percent of Hong Kong’s registered electorate had cast their ballots by 12.30pm in Sunday’s Legislative Council elections.

According to the official election website, 540,336 people had voted by then.

In the 2016 Legco elections, 566,640 had cast their ballots by 12:30pm,15 percent of the then electorate. However, polls opened an hour earlier that year at 7.30am.

Voting in the 2021 election is scheduled to continue until 10.30pm, except at five polling stations where it will be extended by up 22 minutes due to delays in getting them operational in the morning.
