Over 20,000 receive their first Covid shot on Sunday

Health authorities say around 23,800 people received their first Covid jab on Sunday with about 62 percent opting for the BioNTech vaccine and 38 percent the Sinovac. Appointment attendance rates were 93 percent and 82 percent respectively.

The government said 13 people went to hospital after being vaccinated, with two admitted for observation and 11 discharged.

To date, a total of about 354,400 people have received their first vaccine shot, which equates to about 4.7 percent of the population. Overall, about two thirds have opted for Sinovac and one third BioNTech.
