Observatory says T8 to be in force up to 4 pm

The Observatory says the typhoon signal number 8 will be in force up to 4 pm. But it said as tropical cyclone Kompasu departs, local winds are expected to weaken this afternoon.

It also warned that heavy rain due to the cyclone may lead to flooding in low-lying areas and that members of the public should continue to take precautions against flooding.

The Education Bureau says classes of all day schools are suspended.

The Social Welfare Department said all child care centres, elderly services centres and day rehabilitation units, including sheltered workshops and integrated vocational training centres, would not be open.

The MTR said it was providing limited services, with trains on most of its rail lines running at 10-minute intervals. The Airport Express is running at 30 minute intervals.

Most bus services have been suspended, and ferry services are also suspended.
