Observatory issues Standby Signal Number 1

The Observatory issued the Standby Signal Number 1 at 4.40am on Thursday to replace the Strong Wing Signal Number 3.

The weather bureau dropped signal eight at 4.40pm yesterday after Kompasu made landfall over Hainan.

The higher signal had been up for nearly 24 hours and had forced schools, government facilities – including vaccination centres – and the stock market to close on Wednesday.
