No discussion of my future during duty visit: CE

Chief Executive Carrie Lam said there was no discussion of her personal future during her meetings with state leaders in Beijing on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters after separately meeting with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang in the capital, Lam said this would be her final duty visit in her current term of office, which expires on June 30 next year.

She said she was very happy to be able to personally meet the state leaders to thank them for their support and trust over the past few years, adding that she also relayed Hong Kong’s people eagerness for the borders to be reopened with the mainland.

When asked whether there was any mention of her personal future, the CE said the only aim of her visit this time around was to report on her work and on Hong Kong’s latest developments.

She stressed that there was no discussion on her future, adding that she will serve as Hong Kong’s leader until her term expires.
