Nine FTU members to contest in Legco polls

The Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) announced on Friday it will send nine people to stand in the upcoming Legislative Council elections.

Three of them will vie for seats in the geographical constituencies, two in the functional constituencies and the rest will contest seats chosen by the Election Committee.

The chairman of the FTU, Stanley Ng, said it is the party’s duty to take part in the upcoming polls, which emphasizes on the importance of having patriots rule Hong Kong.

The party’s vice chairwoman, Alice Mak, meanwhile, said the FTU did not liaise or co-ordinate with other parties when deciding on its list of candidates.

“We only want to find the right candidates for the right position, and secure as many seats as possible,” she said.
