The government on Saturday expressed concern about a more infectious coronavirus variant that’s been found in Jordan.

The preliminary positive case was recorded in Parkes Building.

An overnight lockdown and mandatory testing of 80 residents there could not find any additional infections.

Officials didn’t identify the variant, but the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Edward Yau, told a radio programme that it’s the first time that this Covid-19 variant has been found in the Hong Kong community.
