Man arrested for riding electric skateboard on road

Police on Monday said they had arrested a teenager who allegedly went skateboarding on a road in Sha Tin last week, on suspicion of “driving without a licence”.

The arrest was made after videos circulated on the internet showing a man riding an electric skateboard right behind a double-decker bus along Tai Chung Kiu Road, before he fell off the board and was left lying in the middle of the road.

A police spokesman said officers began looking into the incident after the videos came to their attention, and they arrested the 18-year-old man on Monday.

The man is suspected of driving an unlicensed vehicle, using a vehicle without insurance and failing to wear an approved helmet.

The man was released on bail pending further investigation.
