Legco poll turnout tops 30 percent

Turnout for the geographical constituency races in this year’s Legislative Council elections stood at 30.2 percent.

Most polling stations closed at 10.30pm on Sunday, with at least 1.3 million people having cast their ballots.

Voter turnout in the geographical constituency races in the previous polls in 2016 was 58.2 percent, with 2.2 million people casting their ballots.

The chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Barnabas Fung, also revealed that about 17,000 people voted at the three polling stations at the border, and 53 voted in the Penny Bay’s quarantine centre.

Turnout for the functional constituency races this year was 32.2 percent, while the figure for the Election Committee vote was 98 percent.
