Knife attacker was lawfully killed by police: coroner

The coroner’s court on Friday ruled that a man who staged a knife attack at a supermarket in March 2019 was lawfully killed by a police officer.

The court heard that Li Ho-ting, 54, knifed the manager of a supermarket on Reclamation Street in Yau Ma Tei, before police arrived and shot the attacker.

A five-member jury reached its unanimous ruling after a two-hour discussion.

The jurors also suggested that the police put more dressing materials for gunshot wounds in the first-aid boxes in their vehicles.

Deputy Coroner Philip Wong thanked the jury, saying their contribution was very important to Li’s family and the police officer.
