Hong Kong records two new imported Covid infections

The Centre for Health Protection reported two new imported Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, as Hong Kong extended its streak of no local infections to 16 days.

One of the patients is a domestic helper who flew in from Indonesia and was undergoing quarantine at a hotel in Yau Ma Tei when she developed symptoms.

She carries the L452R mutation of the coronavirus.

The other patient is a seaman, who stayed aboard a ship when it stopped in Hong Kong on Tuesday. He has since left the SAR.

There are fewer than five preliminary positive cases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Hong Kong has recorded a total of 11,898 Covid infections.
