Hong Kong may lower BioNTech vaccine age to 12

The Department of Health on Tuesday said it had received an application from Fosun Pharma on Saturday to lower the minimum age for the Comirnaty vaccine to 12, along with phase three clinical trial data.

It said the information had been passed on to the advisory panel on Covid-19 vaccines and that the secretary for food and health would consider any suggestions.

The department said it expected a decision could be reached quickly.

The minimum age for the Comirnaty vaccine, provided by BioNTech and its Greater China partner Fosun Pharma, is 16 in the SAR.

The minimum age for the other vaccine used in Hong Kong, which is made by Sinovac, is 18.
