HK sees no new Covid cases, second time this month

Health authorities reported no new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, the second time this month that Hong Kong has seen no fresh infections.

The Centre for Health Protection added that there are fewer than five preliminary positive cases for the day.

However, health authorities said they will be banning Lufthansa German Airlines flights coming from Frankfurt from landing in Hong Kong from Friday to July 29.

That’s because one passenger arriving from Frankfurt on a flight operated by the airline was on Monday confirmed with Covid-19, while two other passengers had failed to comply with infection-control regulations.

Authorities say the two passengers were allowed to board the Lufthansa flight even though they didn’t possess the required documentation.

The number of Covid-19 infections in Hong Kong now stands at 11,955, with 212 virus-related deaths.
