For the first time in more than four months, Hong Kong has reported no new local coronavirus cases.

Health Authorities said on Saturday that all six cases recorded are imported, involving people who flew in from India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Indonesia.

The last time the city reported zero new cases was on November 16.

Microbiologist Yuen Kwok-yung on Saturday expressed hope that Hong Kong is close to achieving zero infections, but that it was crucial people did not to let their guard down and get vaccinated as soon as possible.

He warned that any further relaxation of social distancing measures would need careful consideration.
