Govt adds quarantine hotels for travellers

The government announced on Tuesday that it will convert three hotels originally reserved for the isolation of Covid patients into ones that accommodate travellers.

Royal Pacific Hotel, The Kowloon Hotel and Cordis will start accepting bookings from people returning from overseas and foreign domestic helpers from Thursday.

Four other quarantine hotels currently serving only foreign domestic helpers – Courtyard by Marriott in Sha Tin, iclub Ma Tau Wai Hotel, O’Hotel and Rambler Garden Hotel – will also begin to take returning residents from May 1.

Officials said they are boosting the supply of designated quarantine hotels to meet the demand of Hong Kong residents returning from overseas and foreign domestic helpers.

With the additional hotels, authorities estimate that a total of 14,000 rooms will be available for the mandatory quarantine of flight passengers from next month.
