Four more charged over kidnap of crypto investor

Police on Thursday said four more people had been charged in connection with the kidnapping of a man allegedly caught up in a cryptocurrency transaction scam.

Officers said the four men, aged between 25 and 40, will appear at Kowloon City court charged with conspiracy to kidnap the 39-year-old victim.

Thirteen people have so far been arrested over the alleged kidnap, and three others were charged earlier with the same offence.

The victim was allegedly attacked and kidnapped when he showed up in Kowloon Bay on November 6 to meet a buyer for his digital currency, Tether.

The kidnappers had allegedly asked his family members to pay a HK$30 million ransom.
