Elderly woman dies after being hit by a tram

Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Wan Chai in which an 88-year-old woman died after being hit by a tram.

The incident occurred at about 4 pm on Monday afternoon when the tram was travelling westbound on Hennessy Road and hit the woman, who was crossing the road.

She suffered serious head injuries and was rushed unconscious to Ruttonjee Hospital, where she was certified dead.
