Discovery Bay and Tuen Mun blocks under lockdown

The government on Tuesday evening imposed overnight lockdowns on two residential blocks, in Discovery Bay and in Tuen Mun, after the latest batch of Covid cases in Hong Kong.

Residents of Twilight Court, Peninsula Village in Discovery Bay must stay in their premises and get tested at temporary testing stations set up there from 7pm. Officials say they aim to finish the operation at around 6am on Wednesday.

Officials also said anyone who had stayed in the block for more than two hours from December 6 to 28 must undergo compulsory testing by Thursday.

Residents of Tower 1, The SeaCrest in Tuen Mun must stay in their premises and undergo compulsory testing from 8:30pm on Tuesday, with the operation expected to be completed at around 7am on Wednesday.

Those who stayed in the building from December 5 to 28 are also required to take a test by Thursday.

A 46-year-old flight crew member living in Discovery Bay was confirmed with the virus, one of six imported cases reported by health authorities on Tuesday, and a 44-year-old crew member who lives in Tuen Mun tested preliminary positive.

Both returned to Hong Kong from the United States on Christmas Day and were exempt from quarantine. Officials believe both were carrying the Omicron variant.
