Daya Bay reports ‘operational event’

The Security Bureau said late on Thursday that it had been notified by the Nuclear Emergency Committee Office of the Guangdong Province of an operational event at Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS).

It said that during a routine inspection station staff had found that a ventilator in the electrical plant of Unit 1 of the station was rotating “in a reverse direction”.

They said the ventilator was fixed and the incident didn’t affect the plant’s normal operations, or the health of the workers or the public.
