The Customs Department on Monday said it had seized 47,000 Covid tablets suspected of being illegally imported, along with tens of thousands of other suspected controlled pills.
It said it had confiscated a total of 117,000 tablets and 900 vials of medicine from late March to early April.
The haul, with an estimated market value of around HK$3 million, also includes drugs for heart disease and cancer.
The department said officers found some of the suspected drugs in parcels at the airport labelled as “gifts” or “health supplements”, and they found more tablets after they raided a unit of a commercial building in Sheung Shui.
A man, 55, was arrested and released on bail in connection with the investigation.
