The customs department said it had alerted media organisations who sent reporters to the event, and the officer’s colleagues who may have come into contact with him will get tested as soon as possible.
In a statement on Sunday, the department said the officer took part in an operation at a warehouse on January 20, and came into contact with a warehouse staff who was diagnosed with the coronavirus two days later.
The customs officer then felt unwell and sought treatment at hospital.
The department said he last went to work on January 22, and had worn a mask at all times during work.
