Health officials on Thursday said they had made a report to the police after checks on those reporting Covid infections flagged up a person who could have deliberately provided false information.
Since early March, the government has been accepting self reports of infections from people using rapid test kits, and officials make random checks to prevent abuse.
In a statement, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said it has conducted PCR tests on nearly 12,000 people who reported testing positive for Covid via a rapid test.
Among them, 170 people tested negative in the PCR test and were sent to the isolation facility at Penny’s Bay.
