CE’s daily Covid-19 briefings brought to an end

The government on Friday said Chief Executive Carrie Lam will not hold further daily Covid-19 briefings from Saturday, due to the pandemic situation having stabilised.

Lam had earlier said the press briefings would be cancelled when Hong Kong’s daily caseload dipped below 1,000.

Health authorities on Friday reported 946 new Covid-19 infections.

In a statement, the CE’s office said Lam will continue to meet the press, including in briefings every Tuesday from the week after next before she attends the Executive Council meeting.

The city’s leader has hosted a morning Covid-19 press conference almost every day since March 9, when the territory recorded tens of thousands of new cases.
