Some of those held at the centre recently complained of food poisoning after eating meals prepared by Danny Catering.
Business and Professionals Alliance lawmaker Jeffrey Lam said he had urged the government to consider inviting Cathay to bid to provide meals at the camp, and the airline has now secured a contract.
Lam said he had tasted some of the airline’s offerings, including Thai curry fish and roasted chicken drumsticks, and the food was fine.
“It’s as good as normal cha chaan teng food. It’s okay,” he said.
Lam, who is also an executive councillor, said the meals should at least be of a better quality than what had been provided recently.
