Caspar Tsui won’t be going back to work on Tuesday

The Secretary for Home Affairs Caspar Tsui, who is completing self-isolation after attending local National People’s Congress deputy Witman Hung’s birthday party earlier this month, will not be returning to work on Tuesday.

According to a government gazette, the Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Jack Chan, will be acting in Tsui’s capacity.

Tsui left the Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre last week, and was due to complete seven days of self-isolation on Monday.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam earlier criticised more than a dozen officials including Tsui for attending the party amid the Omicron outbreak, and an investigation is under way.

Another attendee, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui, has returned to work.

And it is understood that two others will resume their duties on Tuesday. They are Director of Immigration Au Ka-wang and Political Assistant to Secretary for Development, Allen Fung.
