Firefighters, police and the Civil Aid Service on Sunday evening found the body of a missing woman after a 30-hour search on the steep cliffs of Kowloon Peak – where her hiking shoes were found last night.
More than a hundred officers were deployed to look for the woman, with the High Angle Rescue Teams and the Mountain Search and Rescue Teams abseiling down the slope and searching the area..
The 24-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene at around 6 pm, with a government helicopter transporting her body to Eastern Hospital.
The woman’s family had been unable to contact her since Thursday afternoon, and her hiking shoes, windbreaker and backpack were not at her home.
Police earlier said a phone company had last picked up her phone signal on Saturday morning in San Po Kong.
