Application forms out for new subsidised flats

Aspiring homeowners queued up at the Housing Authority’s headquarters in Lok Fu on Friday to pick up application forms for a new batch of subsidised flats.

Around 2,100 units at the newly built Kai Chuen Court in Diamond Hill will be put up for sale at 50 percent of the market price, ranging from HK$1.18 to HK$3.85 million.

The government will also sell 525 flats in Dip Tsui Court in Chai Wan and Ching Fu Court in Tsing Yi, as well as 800 flats in old public housing estates.

The flats are being sold under the Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme, with public housing tenants among those eligible to apply.

A man surnamed Lee, who lives with his family at a public housing estate in Sha Tin, told RTHK he would like to buy a bigger flat in Kai Chuen Court, saying transport in the area is good and the flat prices are attractive.

“A 50 percent discount is so cheap. The most expensive flat is only 3.85 million dollars. I think that’s very attractive and [the estate] has a lot of potential.”

A woman surnamed Fan was collecting an application form for her daughter, who she said would also like to live in Kai Chuen Court.

“It’s convenient. She works in Central. We live far away in Tung Chung. That’s why she wants to get a flat there.”

Officials said applications for the flats would be accepted from May 28 to June 10.
