Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a protest at a Chinese University congregation ceremony in November.

They said the man was detained for alleged unlawful assembly and inciting secession.

It’s understood that he was a student at the university.

National security officers are now investigating the case.

Dozens of people staged a protest on November 19, 2020, displaying anti-government banners during the university’s congregation ceremony.

The university made a report to the police, and eight people were arrested in December over the protest.
