Actor Kenneth Tsang dies in quarantine: sources

Veteran actor Kenneth Tsang died in a quarantine hotel on Wednesday after flying in from Singapore, RTHK has learnt. He was 87.

Sources said Tsang tested negative for Covid-19 on Tuesday, but when health officials went to his room on Wednesday morning, he didn’t answer the door.

Police said they received a call around noon from a member of staff at The Kowloon Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui and officers found a body in a room.

Tsang became an actor in the 1950s and played leading roles in many local films in the 1960s.

He played supporting roles next to Chow Yun-fat in popular films in the 1980s, such as A Better Tomorrow and its sequel, and also The Killer.

He arrived on the Hollywood scene in 1998 with a role in The Replacement Killers, and was also a supporting actor in the James Bond film Die Another Day in 2002.

Tsang won best supporting actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2015 for his role in Overheard 3.

He is also well known for starring in a hair dye advertisement that has been on local TV for nearly half a century.
